The ABC has appointed Natasha Nolland, formerly of News.com.au and The Australian Financial Review, as its new marketing manager for the Innovation division. In her new position, Nolland will be delivering the organisation’s marketing initiatives and working with the Innovation team to increase audience engagement.
Nolland arrives at the ABC from News Digital Media where she was national marketing manager, responsible for developing the brand strategy for NEWS.com.au. Before her time at News Digital Media, she was brand manager of The Australian Financial Review print and online.
Nolland started in the ABC offices this week and will be focusing using the corporation's online and mobile platforms to increase audience engagement and develop an open dialogue.
ABC’s director of Innovation, Angela Clark, said: “Connecting with online and mobile audiences is a key step in the evolution of the ABC, and Natasha has shown her managerial and marketing excellence in this emerging space for over a decade.
“There is no point creating incredible new media experiences if your audiences are unaware of them, and Natasha will take a leading role in ensuring ABC’s innovations are recognised both amongst our traditional audiences and in the wider market.”
Nolland said she’s thrilled to be part of the ABC Innovation department.
“The team and the corporation has firmly established itself on the cutting edge of media innovation in Australia. I am looking forward to developing a more open dialogue with the public through our various online and mobile channels.”
ABC Innovation manages the organisation’s website, iPhone, iPad and Android apps, along with a number of content portals. The division also incubates digital content and technology initiatives to cater to changing audience behaviour. This year, the ABC Innovation division has revamped the ABC apps for iOS and Android, redeveloped the homepage, and launched the education resource Splash.
