80s Crooner Michael Bolton Sings Of His Love Of Mac & Cheese In Oddball New Spot

Eighties melodramatic warbler Michael Bolton has returned, reprising his smash hit When a Man Loves a Woman (which was actually a cover of Percy Sledge’s 1966 original) for a new ad for US bakery-café chain Panera Bread.

To celebrate Panera’s slightly gross sounding new menu item, a mashup that combines broccoli cheddar soup with a mac and cheese bowl, Bolton has changed the lyrics to the hit song to now say “when some mac loves broccoli cheddar”.

The ad’s the work of creative agenct GS&P who claim it was the 67-year-old Bolton who actually came up with the idea for the ad.

“Bolton contacted us,” said GS&P creative director Will Elliott. “He genuinely is a huge fan of Panera.”

The spot was shot at Bolton’s mansion including scenes from his music room and his very stunning swimming pool.

Check it out here. Or, ask your parents who Michael Bolton is if you’re aged under 25.
