Sydney radio station 2DayFM is to rebrand as 2GayFM as it announces its new two-year deal as broadcast partner for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG).

The station will give its logo a revamp, broadcast dedicated Mardi Gras content and create specialised playlists on Songl under the 2014 and 2015 deal.

The Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) station also changed its name to 2GayFM last year for the duration of the 2013 Sydney Mardi Gras.

Donna Puechmarin, 2DayFM Content Director, said: “2DayFM is delighted to have exclusive access to one of the world’s most iconic events. 2DayFM has always been at the forefront of Sydney’s biggest events and the Mardi Gras festival is without doubt a highlight in the Sydney calendar.”

Michael Rolik, SGLMG CEO, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming 2DayFM as the official commercial radio broadcast partner of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Together we will be able to deliver the Mardi Gras message of diversity and love across Australia.”

This year’s tie-up kicks off this Sunday (February 9) with 2DayFM breakfast presenter Sophie Monk to take part in celebrations at Fair Day celebrations at Victoria Park.

The 2014 SGLMG runs from February 7 until March2.
