101 Canberrans to become social advocates

Tourism body Visit Canberra is on the lookout for 101 social media savvy Canberrans to take part in the next phase of its award winning Human Brochure campaign.

The second phase of the campaign, dubbed 101 Local Humans and created by The Works, will turn successful applicants into tourists. They will given a “tastes of the very best tourism experiences the city has to offer” and will have the opportunity to invite a local and interstate friend or relative to experience one of the 101 VIP experiences at the end of October.

Douglas Nicol, creative partner at The Works, said: “Social media advocacy is now a well established tool in destination marketing as we know people prefer suggestions and reviews fromtheir trusted network of families and friends.

“We’re looking for 101 Canberra locals to explore what their city has to offer and become the guides for their interstate friends and family.”

VisitCanberra will use social media-monitoring tools to measure the applicant’s social media credentials, judging both reach and sentiment of content posts.

101 Local Humans is the second phase of The Works’ Human Brochure campaign won Gold for destination marketing at the Australian Tourism Awards and has picked up ADMA and APMA awards.

VisitCanberra director Ian Hill added: “The first Human Brochure campaign was a great success and delivered increased awareness of what Canberra has to offer as well as tangible returns to our tourism providers.

“The latest campaign will actively involve the successful 101 Local Humans in destination activities and provide them with the tool and channels to share and amplify their stories with potential visitors.”

Applications for 101 Local Humans close on April 10. Click here for more information.
