The aim of the ‘Ad Scamp’ app, created by VCCP creatives Matthew Benny and Brendan Howell, is to bring ‘scamping’ into the digital age.

“Ad Scamp’ works by turning an iPad into a portable digital lightbox from which creatives can trace scamps,” VCCP said in a release.

“The app allows the user to create a composition of images on screen, and then turn them into a line drawing. The user then places the iPad under a sheet of layout paper and traces the image through with a non-permanent felt tip pen or pencil, helped by the brightness of the screen.”

Users will be able to add as many images to a composition as they like and rotate and scale them with touch controls. The trace tool locks the screen to touch so the user can trace without ruining the image.

‘Ad Scamp’ is free to download from the Apple store and is designed for iPad use.
