Oh, those crazy Swedish police and their road safety campaigns

An ad produced by officers of a local police station in the south of Sweden has gone viral thanks to its own K-pop style video.

The video was created ahead of a national public holiday and has urged people (in its own unique way) to be safer on the roads, and has already been shared over 20,000 times less than 24 hours.

Police at the local station explained one of the reasons behind making the video.

"We wanted to show that we are not as stiff and boring as we appear to be," officer Johan told local news media.

However, Mira Palom√§ki, from Sydney’s Blue by Red PR agency, who's originally from Sweden, believes the Swedish police might be at risk of ruining its brand image.

"The response from the public to the video has been mainly positive. However, it is very unlikely the dancing police are really reaching their target audience – reckless and DUI drivers – with the key message,” said Palom√§ki.

“And I hate to be the bad cop here, but as far as the police’s second motive goes, to appear less ‘stiff’ and ’boring’, that’s just part of their jobs."
