Mi9 has hired a new head of communications.

Sean Walsh (pictured, who joins from Wesfarmers Insurance, where he led the corporate communications team for their Australian underwriting division, will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies at Mi9, with a strong focus on the agency’s digital offering to advertisers.

“Sean is incredibly passionate about Mi9’s vision for the future of digital media in Australia and he joins the company with a wealth of opportunity at his feet,” said Roxanne Hoad, Mi9’s director of marketing, adding that she’s been impressed with his tenacity and leadership style, confirming Walsh will be kicking off a number of key projects in the coming months.

At Wesfarmers, Walsh oversaw external and internal communications for brands such as Coles Insurance, Lumley Insurance and WFI. He also previously held posts at GE Capital across Australia and Asia Pacific, Channel Seven and Channel Nine, where he worked as a producer for ‘A Current Affair’ for more than five years.

"As a leading digital media company that truly understands the online media and content needs of Australians, I can't wait to share the Mi9 story with the market,” said Walsh.

He added: “With imagination and intelligence underpinning all aspects of the Mi9 business, there’s a strong foundation to build a compelling communications program."
