Scentre Group Partners With Sony To Host PlayStation VR Tour

Scentre Group and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Australia have announced an exclusive experiential partnership that will offer Westfield shoppers the opportunity to experience PlayStation’s new virtual reality system ahead of its highly anticipated Australian launch in October.

Powered by PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation VR takes console gaming to the next level of immersion, according to SIE Australia’s director of marketing, Patrick Lagana.

“With the impending launch of PlayStation VR, we are on the brink of the biggest step change in innovation I have seen in my 17-plus year career with PlayStation,” he said.

“The only way to truly grasp the depth of experience PlayStation VR and PS4 offers is to put the headset on and try it for yourself. As such, our partnership with Scentre Group is a natural fit and we are really looking forward to taking PS VR out on tour to Westfield shoppers in the lead up in to the Christmas period.”

Scentre Group’s general manager of common mall leasing, Tim Roberts, said the partnership with Sony delivers on the company’s commitment to provide an innovative and highly engaging customer experience in its Westfield shopping centres.

“We’re thrilled Westfield shoppers will be among the first in Australia to experience the new PlayStation VR at our preview events,” he said.

“This is experiential retail at its very best.”

Consumers who register their interest to experience PlayStation VR via www.trypsvr.com will be notified via email when bookings are live for selected Westfield shopping centres in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT.

PlayStation VR is set launch in Australia on 13 October 2016 with a recommended retail price of $549.95.
