Yesterday, B&T celebrated International Women’s Day in fine style with a lunch at ARIA Sydney, toasting some of the leading female creatives for large brands and agencies.

The ‘An Ode to Mentors Lunch’, sponsored by Adobe, was opened by B&T’s CEO, David Hovenden, who talked about the history of International Women’s Day compared to where we are today.

“2018 feels particularly significant for International Women’s Day. #metoo and#timesup have raised mainstream awareness of exclusion, disparity, harassment and abuse.

In Australia it’s been a long road and the journey is far from complete,” he said.

Suzanne Steel, MD of Adobe Australia and New Zealand, agreed when she gave her mesmerising keynote speech next.

She told the attendees that a recent study stated that, in Australia, only 29 per cent of creative and design roles in Australia are occupied by females. An even smaller percentage reflects women in leadership roles.

The attendees all brought their mentor along with them, as a thank you for helping them, backing them and inspiring them along the way.

Notable guests include Liz Grant, president of the Australian Graphic Design Association and Tom McFarlane, creative partner at M&C Saatchi.
