Instagram’s Latest Update Extends Video Duration To 60 Seconds

After yesterday’s meltdown over Instagram’s algorithm change, Instagram has announced another update to the platform. Videos on the photo-sharing platform have been extended to 60 seconds, previously the maximum duration of a video on the platform was 15 seconds.

“We want to bring you fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video on Instagram. As part of our continued commitment, you’ll soon have the flexibility to tell your story in up to 60 seconds of video. This is one step of many you’ll see this year,” according to the company’s blog post.

The number of people watching Instagram videos has increased by more than 40 per cent which is the reason for bumping up the limit.

iOS users will also get the ability to stitch multiple video clips from their camera rolls together into a single video. The feature is available as part of Instagram for iOS version 7.19 in Apple’s App Store.

The announcement included a video clip of the “incredible community of video creators who already call Instagram home. The video features some of the most diverse young creators on Instagram”.

According to the announcement, “this is one step of many you’ll see this year”. So expect more changes to the Instagram platform.
