If you used Instagram over the weekend you would have noticed accounts posting “Turn On Notification” images to try and bypass Instagram’s latest algorithm change. Turns out everyone can calm down, with Instagram announcing it won’t be changing the feed right now.
Last week, the photo app announced it would switch from a chronological order of photos to an algorithm-based approach similar to Facebook’s News Feed and Twitter’s latest changes to its Timeline. Instagram took to Twitter, to try and reassure users about the changes:
We’re listening and we assure you nothing is changing with your feed right now. We promise to let you know when changes roll out broadly.

Despite Instagram saying the change would roll out in the coming months, over the weekend thousands of accounts posted this:
Understandably people were annoyed by the changes and the ‘notifications’ posts:

I’d let a family member get swallowed by a dragon before I’d allow Instagram push notifications to come to my phone
