And The App That Made The Most Money In Australia In 2017 Was…

Mobile app market data and insights company App Annie has released a new report that sheds light on key trends driving the app market’s growth in 2017, and insights to apply to 2018.

According to the study, titled 2017 Retrospective, global app downloads surpassed 175 billion last year, with users downloading 60 per cent more apps in 2017 than in 2015.

In the same period, daily time spent on apps rose by 30 per cent to hit three hours in 2017.

Consumer spend in app stores more than doubled over past two years to exceed $86 billion in 2017.

Looking at Australia, the study found a 25 per cent rise in the use of fintech apps last year.

In Australia’s media and entertainment industries, consumer app spend has risen 292 per cent when comparing 2017 with 2015. Total spend in gaming apps has climbed 50 per cent over the past three years.
