MLA marketing team shake up

Meat and Livestock Australia has hired a new global marketing general manager, as the former GM Glen Feist left the company.

Michael Edmonds will now take responsibility for the red meat industry’s levy funded global marketing activities.

“Edmonds brings over two decades of experience and a unique blend of marketing and industry expertise to this new role, having worked in both trade and direct consumer marketing of global food and beverage brands,” said MLA MD Scott Hansen.

Edmonds joins MLA from Simplot Australia, where he was GM of sales and marketing, Top Cut foods.

The appointment forms part of structural change instigated by Hansen that sees the formerly separate domestic and international marketing efforts now consolidated under a single marketing unit.

“A single marketing unit can be more responsive to fluctuations in global marketing conditions and more efficient resource allocation,” he said.

Hansen said Edmonds will commence in late March, immediately prior to the 2012 marketing taskforce meetings, where industry representatives and MLA will finalise budgets and marketing activities around the globe for the year.

Recent campaigns for MLA have featured Sam Neill.
