The merger of Southern Cross Media and Austereo has been cemented further with the rebranding of the Gold Coast’s Sea FM station to bring it into line with the Today network.
In the first station rebranding since Southern Cross bought out Austereo, 90.9 Sea FM will now become part of Austereo’s Today Network, focusing on the “biggest and hottest hits, stars and events”. The move is said to be “an important step in the merge of the companies’ regional and metropolitan radio stations” according to a release.
The new Sea FM logo is in the Today red, white and blue colours.
Paul Bartlett, general manager of the Gold Coast Media Centre said: “Listeners will already be able to hear the difference in the music that 90.9 Sea FM is playing. Right now and for the months to come we’re completely focused on following in the footsteps of our friends at the Today Network by playing more pop music and including more celebrity content within our shows.
“Home to Paul, Moyra and Baggs, Fifi and Jules, Hamish and Andy, and Timmy and Renee, we know the new 90.9 Sea FM brand will come to represent great radio, music and entertainment across the Gold Coast.”
