Gay and lesbian media network, Pink Media Group has secured the media sales and representation rights for gay dating app Grindr within the Australian market.
Grindr, founded in 2009, has over 2 million users globally and over 125,000 users in Australia. The app is predominantly used to facilitate gay rendezvous but also has a chat function.
Founder of Pink Media Group Ben Mulcahy said that the app's gay target demographic was a particularly lucrative market.
“The advertising opportunities are substantial both on a national and local level. With thousands of people on there everyday who have high disposable incomes I see opportunities for sexy cars, sexy clothes, sexy fashion, sunglasses, holiday destinations, hotel chains.
"On a local level the GPS capabilities could allow coffee shops, restaurants, bars, clothing stores to encourage high disposable income earners in the neighbourhood to visit.”
Pink Media Group also recently won the sales and representation rights for Melbourne's annual queer celebration, Midsumma Festival.
