NBN Co, the company building the national broadband network, has hired a group manager of public information and social media.
Cathy Jamieson, who is a former head of corporate communications at Microsoft Australia, will be tasked with the role in what is a critical recognition of the growing importance of the social and digital media segment in public communications.
She will be responsible for managing all the aspects of NBN Co’s “national public information and education campaign in line with the company’s regulatory obligations.”
Jamieson will also “oversee NBN Co’s social and digital media strategy”.
During her tenure at Microsoft Australia, she led the consumer and commercial PR launches for Windows Vista, Office 2007, Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7. She also led the national marketing launch for the Office 2010 product suite.
NBN Co recently appointed Kieren Cooney as chief communications officer with a wide-reaching marketing communications remit taking in traditional marketing and advertising, as well as government relations, consumer PR and corporate communications.
Clemenger BBDO has been previously hired by the network builder for some creative work around its public information campaign.
