Air New Zealand pitches creative

EXCLUSIVE: Air New Zealand has placed its creative account out to pitch with a number of agencies still in the running.

A spokesperson for the carrier confirmed to B&T that a review process was underway but declined to give details on which agencies were still in the running.

.99/Colenso is the incumbent on the account and is understood to still be in the running.

The pitch has been on for the past six weeks and industry sources have confirmed that Saatchi & Saatchi and DDB are still on the pitch.

The Special Group and DraftFcb are understood to have pitched for business as well.

The review only extends to creative and will not affect the media planning and buying account, which is handled by OMD.

It is thought that the airline is focussing its marketing activity on increasing ticket sales rather than on building brand.

It is understood there are all also plans to sharpen the focus on loyalty programs and direct marketing.

Air NZ spent an estimated $2.5m in the twelve months ending September this year according to Nielsen, which was down on the previous year's $4.3m.
