Judges depart floundering Popstars

JOHN Paul Young has departed as a permanent judge on the Seven Network’s Popstars Live show.

The confirmation that the former teen idol had left the show followed the earlier news that another member of the judging panel Christine Anu had also resigned from her role on the under performing show.

Announcing Young’s departure a Seven spokesman said he had fulfilled “all of his commitments to Popstars Live”.

“Hired for his experience and standing in the Australian recording industry, and to nurture the budding talent of the Popstars performers, JPY’s role concluded prior to the second Wednesday “Your Call” show, the spokeman said.

“We appreciate his input and support up till this time and thank him for his commitment to the Popstars,” the spokesman said.

Anu left the show earlier last week after deciding she could not take the harder and more critical line being demanded of her by the show’s producers.

The judging panel now consists of Molly Meldrum, Shauna Jensen and Trevor Steele.
