Roberts gives it up for charity

The world’s first copy of advertising guru Kevin Roberts’ new book Sisomo: the future on screen will go under the hammer at next week’s auction to raise money for the Lighthouse Foundation, a charity providing accommodation and support for young people at risk.

The Saatchi & Saatchi global CEO has donated a signed copy of the galleys (bound proof pages) of his new book for the advertising art auction.

The manuscript—about creating emotional connections in the market with sight, sound and motion—is yet to be printed and will be released in the US at the end of November.

AFA advertising art auction organiser, Kelly Addis, said the manuscript was signed, “Here’s to getting to the future first”.

Addis said both Melbourne and Sydney agencies were rallying to the cause, with artworks streaming in from creative talent including Clemenger BBDO chairman, Ron Mather, Troy Mendham from Mustard Design and national M&C Saatchi creative director, Tom McFarlane.

The auction will this year have a people’s choice award. “Next Friday one agency will know they employ arguably Australia’s most creative creative,” Addis said.

The auction will be held at the Cherry Tree, Richmond, from 6pm on October 20. Art donations will be accepted until the 20th.
