Hanson's adman promises to shock
Maria Ligerakis

RICHARD Rae, the man behind Pauline Hanson’s political advertising campaign, is out to stir the publicity pot with plans to broadcast the redhead’s speeches over the Internet and create ads that “stand out from the crowd”.

Rae, a self-professed swinger voter who has worked on both Liberal and Labor campaigns in the past, claims he wants Hanson to be given a "fair go" in the public arena and has some innovative concepts up his sleeve to lead the push.

"Everything I do has to attract attention," he told B&T Weekly.

And attract attention he does - take his recent campaign for New Women magazine for example.

The campaign used Lorena Bobbitt, the woman who made headlines in 1993 after slicing off her husband's penis as its inspiration.

"I do stuff that shocks, that's the bottom line," he said. "But I never use bad language and I never touch on religion."

Rae plans to broadcast Pauline Hanson's speeches over the Internet, which he says will also include opportunities for advertisers, in the lead-up to the forthcoming election and has also created a song dubbed Sunburnt Battler.

He hopes to sell up to 100,000 copies of the CD, targeting people on the One Nation mailing list.

Rae advises people to "expect the unexpected" when it comes to One Nation's advertising campaign.

"Pauline has great sex appeal," Rae claims. "And let's face it, when you have a great product to work with it just makes it that much easier."
