The awards recognising the best of internet advertising have a new name and are calling for entries.
Now being called the Internet Awards, the former Awwwards are now in their eighth year and have grown to be one of the best recognised awards for online marketing and advertising campaigns.
Entrants have until August 22 to submit details of online advertising and marketing initiatives carried out from July 1 last year to 31 July this year.
The awards are being split into five categories covering online creative, integration with offline campaigns, media strategy for a new product launch, online promotion and online media strategy.
The winners will be announced on October 27 at the awards event.
Newly appointed chairman of judges, Patty Keegan, said the award organisers were expecting a record number if entries in line with the innovation taking place in the online space.
“I expect to continue to see innovation in these entries I also anticipate more focus on the successful business returns the campaigns have achieved,” Keegan said.
Media director Chris Brinkworth, from 2004 Best in Show winner, Emitch, said he expected to see greater involvement this year from large agencies representing blue chip clients.
“eMitch has certainly seen larger blue chip companies from across FMCG, retail and service industries redefining their marketing strategies; to include what is now a key mainstream media channel reaching 57% of Australian homes,” Brinkworth said.
“Advances in technology such as ability to breakdown age, sex and interests have also helped advertisers touch very specific markets that they have previously found difficult to reach. The ability to generate highly targeted campaigns is something that is drawing advertisers and their clients to the online medium.”
