Caltex moves forward with Y&R CALTEX Australia has appointed Young & Rubicam and its media partner Mediaedge:cia to handle the company's advertising account. The decision followed a review of three agencies also including incumbent The Campaign Palace, and McCann-Erickson. Caltex national brand marketing manager Mark Rosenberg said the decision was “extremely difficult” as all three agencies demonstrated they were capable of doing a good job. Caltex's decision follows the recent selection of Young & Rubicam and Mediaedge:cia by ChevronTexaco to handle that company's worldwide advertising. ChevronTexaco owns 50% of the shares in Caltex Australia. Rosenberg said the local review was conducted as a separate exercise to the global ChevronTexaco review and was based on what was going to be in the best interest of Caltex Australia. “The ChevronTexaco decision and the benefits of using the same agency as our major shareholder were factored into the assessment process," Rosenberg said. 3 February 2003
