ACP launches Wondertime
Olivia Collings

The first overseas offshoot of American parenting magazine Wondertime will hit Australian newsstands on September 10.

The magazine is a joint venture between Disney Publishing Worldwide and ACP Magazines, which already co-produces a number of children’s titles in Australia.

Wondertime is described by Disney publishing director Kylie Watson-Wheeler as a magazine about the joy of parenting, not a guide to parenting.

“The majority of parenting magazines are very instructional and tend to be aimed at first time parents,” she said.

“But Wondertime is about building a relationship with parents for the long term.”

The first edition features over 100 pages. Retailers in Australia including Kmart, Target and Myer are advertising in the magazine, as well as other Disney-owned companies. While Australia is the first overseas market for the magazine to break into, Watson-Wheeler said she was looking at the possibility of introducing it to other Asian markets which she manages, including India.

ACP already has parenting titles Mother & Baby and Pregnancy & Birth, whileNews Magazines has Australian Parents magazine and Pacific Magazines publishes Practical Parenting.
