Sky News Australia has announce it plans to base its Sky News operation out of the new Foxtel Digital subscription television Centre being built in Sydney.
Foxtel chief executive officer Kim Williams said Sky News—the joint venture between the Seven and Nine Networks and the UK’s Sky News channel—will be one of the core components of the new site.
He said the site which is part of Foxtel’s $600m digital investment is aimed at being a “campus style facility that will stimulate innovation and provide unity for the subscription industry in Australia”.
Sky News CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said the new digital news centre would allow Sky News Australia to further expand the channel including Sky News Active, the service it launched earlier this year for viewers with digital subscription TV which gives 24 hour access to news on demand.
Sky News is now available in two million homes nationally on the Foxtel, Optus and Austar pay TV networks and across New Zealand on the Sky pay TV network.
