The Sydney Credit Union is giving away free hugs and free coffee in Sydney’s CBD this week to promote its new name and tagline.
The credit union will re-launch as SCU with a new brand message of ‘more generous banking’ which it aims to demonstrate with a week-long giveaway.
PR agency One Green Bean was appointed last month to support the brand refresh and new website, which was developed by design group Blue Marlin.
Adam Milbank, marketing manager of SCU said: “We’ve got a modern and fresh new look that we believe will appeal more to the younger generations. Although it’s hard to compete with the big banks on advertising budget we have a strong brand and a great proposition that’s a little more fun and little more friendly. In a time of financial insecurity we think that people will buy into the promise of better service more than the noise created by advertising.”
One Green Bean’s managing director Kat Thomas added: “Since our appointment in August we’ve worked with the team at SCU to develop not only a solid re-launch approach, but also a robust public relations strategy to build the profile of SCU long term, to raise awareness and educate consumers on all the benefits associated with the broad range consumer focused financial solutions that organisations like SCU offer consumers.”
