New Zealand’s peak marketing body will have a leadership change of guard after 16 years with Sue McCarty replacing outgoing chief executive Keith Norris.
McCarty will take the helm of the Marketing Association (MA) next month while Norris, who has held the position since 1991, will assume a seat on the organisation’s board.
Simone Iles, MA board chairman, said McCarty’s appointment signalled a new era for the association.
She said McCarty’s key brief was to “foster the understanding and practice of marketing as a driver of profitable business in the NZ economy”.
McCarty was previously in senior marketing roles at Telecom NZ, Netway and Microsoft in New Zealand, Europe and the United Kingdom.
McCarty said her vision was to be “the voice” of New Zealand marketing
“On behalf of marketing professionals and all New Zealand business, I look forward to having the opportunity to lead the association through the next stage of its evolution, building on the successful platform that already exists,” McCarty said.
Norris, in his board seat, will remain involved in self-regulatory activities and the association’s newly launched advisory service.
MA has 4,000 members and over 400 organisations, ranging from the country’s largest companies to professional individuals.
