Skoda Auto, part of the Volkswagen Group, is sponsoring SBSs coverage of cycling throughout 2008, making it one of channel’s top five advertisers. The multi-platform coverage deal includes a range of initiatives around coverage of the Tour De France. Skoda Auto will also sponsor cycling events in the lead-up to the Tour De France through competitions, pre-rolls on all cycling related stories, recognition as broadcast partner on cycling event station promos and display advertising online.

Recruitment ad specialist Julie Harding has rejoined TMP as head of operations. Harding left the firm two years ago to work with competitor AdEnergy in a similar role. Harding is the second major appointment for TMP in the last couple of months, after also rehiring Tony Le Bars as head of sales following his time at The Face.

Online event portal Sticky Tickets has appointed Dash Public Relations to handle their communications. Sticky Tickets, is a free service which allows amateur and professional event organisers to promote, sell and manage their events. Dash will manage all PR for Sticky Tickets as it aims to increase awareness.

Adelaide radio station FIVE aa has secured the rights to broadcast the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The station will broadcast live results, commentary, interviews and analysis each day of the competition. General manager Paul Bartlett said that given the strong emphasis on news and sport, it was appropriate to cover the most significant sporting event in the world.

Synarchy Worldwide has been chosen as the preferred name for the new WPP Group agency, set to handle Dell's marketing-services business. The name is in reference to a utopian political system coined in the 18th century, but could possibly be changed if it does not meet legal requirements or translate well into other cultures. WPP won Dell’s business earlier his year.

Kodak and AWARD have announced submissions for this year’s New Director of The Year awards are open from July 7. The awards are designed to recognise and promote exceptional new commercial directors in the Asia Pacific region. A panel of international directors and creative directors will judge the entries with finalists to be showcased at a special New Directors’ event held on September 17. The winning Kodak Award New Director of the Year will be given $4000 worth of motion picture film. Meanwhile AWARD have announced that its awards will be held on November 27.
