Toshiba has appointed Clemenger BBDO Sydney as its advertising agency for its notebook business in Australia and New Zealand and audio visual business in Australia.
The agency was selected from a shortlist of five creative agencies, with Clems beginning work immediately.
Mariana Thomas, marketing communications manager at Toshiba, said: “Clemenger BBDO Sydney showed a strong flair for developing a fresh approach to our advertising strategy. Both their strategic approach and their creative proved their great understanding of our market and our brand.
“The team dynamic was a sound cultural fit with our business and they demonstrated a deep experience in conceptualizing, developing and executing a broad range of consumer campaigns.”
Andy Pontin, managing director of Clemenger BBDO Sydney said: “Toshiba is a great brand. Their products are incredible, the commitment to innovation is absolute. There is great potential and we’re looking forward to working together.”
Yesterday it was revealed Clems Sydney executive creative director Richard Maddocks had resigned from the agency. Maddocks is set to continue in the role for up to six months as the agency hunts for a replacement. Andy Pontin said a replacement ECD was being sought, and Maddocks would help in that search. The news of Maddocks departure came just days after Clemenger Melbourne ECD James McGrath was made creative chairman for the entire Clemenger BBDO Group and Ant Keogh was promoted to ECD for Melbourne.
