Google tops world’s most powerful brands at US$66b
Tim Addington

Google is the most powerful brand in the world with a brand value in excess of US$66 billion according to a new report.

The search engine was valued at US$66.4 billion ahead of General Electric at US$61.8 billion, Microsoft at US$54.9 billion and Coca Cola in fourth at US$44.1. China Mobile rounded out the top five with a brand value of US$41.2 billion.

The second annual Brandz top 100 most powerful brands which is produced by market research firm Millward Brown Optimor, measures dollar value combined with consumer sentiment gained from WPP’s Brandz database. Authors of the study interview more than one million consumers across the world each year covering 39,000 brands.

The aggregate value of all brands in the top 100 is US$1.6 trillion, up 10.6% on last year’s survey.

Eileen Campbell, global CEO of Millward Brown said: "These top performers demonstrate the real financial value that successful business and brand management can deliver. There are tons of actionable insights that can be derived from these rankings. They prove that a blend of good business leadership, responsible financial management and powerful marketing are an unbeatable combination that can be leveraged to create and grow corporate wealth."
