The Australian Radio Network has appointed former Austereo managing director Brad March to the role of program consultant across the network.
ARN said the appointment was part of its strategy to target the 25 to 54 demographic group through both of its top-rating brands, MIX and Classic Hits.
ARN chief executive officer, Bob Longwell, said ARN had been in negotiations with March for a “lengthy period of time” and described the securing of his services as a major coup given his extensive experience, skills and track record over a 25-year career in Australian commercial radio.
Longwell said March would work with ARN’s group program director, Jeremy Millar, to further strengthen ARN’s position as the number one radio network for listeners aged 25 to 54.
“Brad has that instinct of understanding the nuances of radio listeners, and is also able to connect and nurture our existing radio talent across the main stations,” he said.
March quit his position with Austereo in August 2003 after 15 years with the company and was replaced by the then chief operating officer Michael Anderson. Anderson had been appointed COO just three months earlier.
March’s contract with Austereo had a 12 month non-compete clause.
On his new role with ARN March said he was pleased to heading back into radio at a time when ARN “has never been more focused and committed to success”.
