APN appoints Fairfax’s Quinn
 
AUSTRALASIAN regional newspaper publisher APN has bought Fairfax New Zealand’s Terry Quinn on board in the newly created role of editor-in-chief of the group’s regional daily newspapers in Australia and New Zealand.

Quinn is currently publisher of Fairfax NZ’s Sunday newspapers including the largest the Sunday Star Times. He has previously held senior editing positions in Scotland, England and the United States.

He is a past editor-in-chief of The Daily Record, Scotland’s largest-selling daily with a circulation of 700,000, and he has also edited the Edinburgh Evening News and the Telegraph & Argus in Bradford, England.

Between 2000 and 2002 he was senior vice president, readership and product development for Thomson Newspapers in the United States responsible for readership development at Thomson’s 60 daily newspapers in the USA and Canada and had functional responsibility for the group’s journalists and circulation staff.

In his new role he will have editorial responsibility for 23 daily and 90 non daily newspapers in NZ and Australia.
