Brantz and Hill depart SBS for Nine and Fox

SBS sports host Stephanie Brantz and her on-air colleague and off-air partner, Simon Hill, will be moving on from the network, with Brantz heading to Channel Nine and Hill jumping to Fox Sports.

Brantz, the host of Toyota World Sport, will make her last appearance on the show on Friday August 18.

SBS announced in July that it was axing Toyota World Sport despite the station’s ratings successes with the Football World Cup and the Tour de France.

The show will be replaced by a one-hour nightly news program that incorporates sport.

Hill is leaving to work for Fox Sports, and his last day at SBS will be Sunday August 13.

Channel Nine is still keeping mum about Brantz’s appointment, despite SBS already releasing a statement about Brantz’s and Hill’s departure.

It is expected that Brantz will be given an on-air hosting duties at Nine that will include the network’s International Summer of Cricket lineup and the Ashes series.

In a statement, SBS director of television and online content, Matt Campbell, said: “Both Stephanie Brantz and Simon Hill have made a big contribution to SBS Sports’ programming, most recently to our record-breaking and highly- praised coverage of the FIFA World Cup. Stephanie and Simon are both extremely talented people and it comes as no surprise that they have attracted the attention of the other networks. We wish them both the very best for the future”.

Brantz joined SBS six years ago after a 15-year modelling career in Queensland.

British-born Hill, who came to Australia in 2003, previously worked for the BBC and ITV sports.
