Women In Media Profile: Jackie Crossman

Women In Media Profile: Jackie Crossman

Today marks one week until the Women in Media Awards, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate and recognise the inspiring women in this industry.

But before the annual night kicks off, we have a few more women to showcase via our Women in Media Profile Series.

Next up on the list is Jackie Crossman, who’s the executive director of Red Agency Sydney.

She’s a distinguished member of the Australasian PR community, a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and an all-round corporate and marketing communications wiz, with experience in everything from issues and crisis management to social media, events and sponsorship.

Crossman started her career in radio and after working in global PR, she founded her own consultancy in New Zealand in 1988, a business that eventually became Porter Novelli New Zealand of which she was Managing Director.

Crossman then formed Crossman Communications again in Australia in 2003, before it was acquired by Red Agency in 2016.

Get to know Crossman more below.

Something I love is…

I have a passion for fashion and am rarely spotted without heels!

The best advice I’ve ever received is…

Never buy anything you can’t afford with cash.

A woman I’m in awe of is…

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden because of how she is changing perceptions around women in the workplace.

I’d never want to be…

An astronaut as I have a fear of heights!

And I’d love to try…

Being a historian, because I like to know who has trodden the paths before us and how it informs who we are.

Something that inspires me is…

The never-ending quest to improve myself and others.

My best piece of advice would be…

Something that I tell my colleagues and my daughter all the time is that we’re running a marathon, not a sprint.

Also, what seems like a big issue today, will just be a speed bump when you look back one day.

Woman are important in business because…

They tend to bring a different perspective to men and they also dominate most household purchases!

B&T‘s Women in Media Awards 2018 will be held on Friday 17 August 2018 at Doltone House – Jones Bay Wharf. Grab early bird tickets to the event here and find all other info on the website
