Whybin\TBWA Launches More Work For Tourism New Zealand

Tourism New Zealand has just launched its most recent campaign ‘Inspired by Wellington’, to promote tourism in New Zealand.
The campaign includes three feature videos all highlight the hidden wonders of Wellington and each video sends three people into Wellington for some sight seeing so they can experience the culture and the high points of the town. Each person then creates something in their respective field inspired by their time in Wellington.
Tourism New Zealand is the official tourism company for New Zealand; they are responsible for marketing New Zealand to the world as a tourist destination. Its campaign ‘Inspired by Wellington’ has been launched to promote tourism in New Zealand and Wellington by showing its audience to wonders and highlights of the country, and how travelling there would not only be a fun experience but an inspiring one. The campaign was created by Whybin\TBWA Sydney.
The first of the three campaign videos features Thomas Langford owner and founder or Langford guitars an Australian guitar brand. All guitars are designed by Langford and his team. Well know Australian artists such as Julia Stone, Gary Frost (Moving Pictures), Mark Lizotte (Diesel) have all used Langford’s guitars. In the ‘Inspired by Wellington’ video Thomas Langford tours around Wellington experiencing New Zealand’s finest coffee, brewery’s, Wellingtons beautiful street art and traditional Maori art.
When he returned home he created a beautiful, hand crafted guitar that was inspired by his adventures in Wellington for his friend Julia Stone (part of the duo Angus and Julia Stone). The guitar had traditional Maori symbols painted on it such as Koru, a spiral of ferns, symbolising the beginning of new life and small circles symbolising the continuation of life and the continuation of the guitar which he hoped would last a long time.
The second video of the sequel features Nick Plaumbo the owner and founder of Messina Gelato. Messina Gelato is an Australian gelato company situated in Darlinghurst Sydney. Its goal is to please its customers by using the best natural ingredients and making weird and wonderful cakes and flavours. It is very focused on the creative process of creating new foods and flavours; this is why Nick Plaumbo travelled to Wellington as part of the ‘Inspired by Wellington’ campaign to get creative inspiration for his work.
In Wellington Plaumbo got to know Wellington through its fantastic nightlife and live music, its art and theatre at the Weta Workshop performance at the TSB Bank Arena and its fine wines at Poppies Martinbrough Wine Farm in Wairarapa. With this inspiration Plaumbo went home to Sydney and created a lychee, passionfruit and peanut butter limited edition flavor named ‘Sweet As’.
