Turnbull Snares The Bulk Of Media Coverage Three Days Into Electioneering

It may be 50-50 in the polls, but when it comes to media and social media coverage the PM is romping away with it in the first three days of the election campaign.

According to media monitoring firm Meltwater, Turnbull snared 80 per cent of mentions on social media and over 50 per cent in news media.

Meltwater’s survey, published on Business Insider, not only includes mentions for Bill Shorten but the Nationals (Barnaby Joyce) and the Greens (Richard Di Natale).

Here’s how the four leaders of each major political party fared on social media since the July 2nd election was called last Sunday. There were 1208 mentions on social media and 11,313 news articles.


Meltwater reported the social media chatter has thus far been predominately negative while employment has been the most discussed topic as per the chart below.
