Triple J Won’t Move Hottest 100 Despite Protests It’s Insulting To Aboriginals

Youth station Triple J says it has no plans to move its annual Hottest 100 competition from Australia Day despite a campaign suggesting it was offensive to indigenous people.

The annual music poll is the station’s biggest event and has run every Australia Day since 1989. However, there has been an ongoing campaign to have the poll moved.

In a statement, Triple J said: “Future years are under review and we’ll continue to talk to Indigenous communities, artists and our audience about this.”

There is presently a petition on Change.org to have the event moved and it presently has more than 3000 signatures.
