Triple J Unearthed Winners Lose Splendour In The Grass Spot Over Sexual Assault Allegations

Melbourne punk band The Football Club (pictured above) has announced it has withdrawn from playing at Splendour in the Grass in July after sexual assault allegations were made against one of its members.

The band was recently announced winners of a Triple J Unearthed competition which saw them take home the prize of featuring on the line-up at this year’s Splendour in the Grass music festival.

However, allegations of sexual assault have since surfaced on social media involving a band member of The Football Club, which the band strongly denied in a statement on Friday.

The Triple J Unearthed Facebook page was hit with a number of comments in support of the allegations against The Football Club, urging the government-funded radio station to act on them – and it has.
