The HuffPost, Google And NZME Execs On The Speakers List For Newspaper Works Forum

Executives from The Huffington Post, Google and NZME are among the additional speakers announced for this year’s Future Forum, hosted by The Newspaper Works, on 10-11 September.

The Huffington Post’s vice president, brand strategy and sales and head of branded content Lauri Baker (pictured above); Google’s director, strategic partnerships and partner business solutions Jason Washing; NZME CEO Jane Hastings and the Federal Minister for the Environment Greg Hunt will feature at this year’s forum.

These speakers will complement keynote speakers Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and chief executive of WPP, and Raju Narisetti, the senior vice president, strategy for News Corp (US).

The full speaker line-up and program has now been announced for the Future Forum, which will include The CEO Panel, with newspaper publisher CEOs Greg Hywood from Fairfax Media, Julian Clarke from News Corp Australia and Chris Wharton from Seven West Media (WA). The current CEO of APN News & Media, Michael Miller, will join the panel in his new position of Executive Chairman – News Corp Australasia, along with the newly appointed CEO of APN News & Media, Ciaran Davis. The discussion will be moderated by Adstream Executive Director – global market strategy, Peter Miller.

Other speakers and panellists across the two-day event include Australian Press Council Chair Professor David Weisbrot, AAP Editor-in-Chief Tony Gillies, Dot Media Co-founder and Editor of Mobile Marketing Magazine David Murphy, Helloworld Chief Marketing Officer Kim Portrate and Seven West Media Chief Revenue Officer Kurt Burnett.

The theme for this year’s Future Forum will be “Influencing a Connected World” and the two day event will be held on September 10 and 11 at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. The Newspaper of the Year Awards will be held on September 11, at the conclusion of the forum.

The annual conference convenes newspaper media executives from across Asia-Pacific and more than 600 delegates attended last year’s series of events.

“The influence of our brands and journalism has never been greater yet finding new commercial models to sustain our future beyond the core business of print newspapers remains a complex challenge and one that we will explore at this year’s Future Forum,” said The Newspaper Works CEO Mark Hollands.

“Our world class speaker line-up will explore how mobile and video will set the commercial agenda for newspapers, the growth of programmatic trading, content marketing and native advertising and how to continue to produce high quality products that play an influential role in the advertising and communications industry and society in general.”

The Future Forum will feature three workshops, including master classes for editorial, advertising and marketing, and print and production, plus a full-day plenary and separate gala events for the Advertising & Marketing and The Newspaper of the Year awards. This year’s Future Forum is once again sponsored by Norske Skog.
