The Australian Finds New Editor John Lehmann

News Corp has appointed John Lehmann as editor of The Australian. He will replace Clive Mathieson who is leaving to take up a senior role in the NSW Government.

In a piece on The Australian, editor-in-chief Paul Whittaker praised Lehmann. “John is a hard-driving and experienced news person who brings great energy and expertise to the paper,” he said.

Petra Rees has been appointed as the deputy editor.

“Petra has been an outstanding senior staffer on the paper for many years and brings a wealth of experience to the deputy’s position,” said Whittaker.
