The Australian Financial Review Launches Universal App

The Australian Financial Review has today launched a new universal app that is designed to be accessible across both iPhone and iPad and keep subscribers up-to-date and in the know throughout the day.

The Financial Review app, which is now available to be downloaded from the App Store, will be updated continuously with breaking news, in-depth analysis and commentary on must-read topics – spanning business, markets, politics, leadership and lifestyle.

“Our experienced editors will ensure it has the right selection of stories, so you always know what the biggest events and developments of the day are,” Financial Review Editor-in-Chief Michael Stutchbury said.

“We know our readers are busy throughout the day, coming in and out of meetings, on and off planes, or even just commuting. Our new app has been designed to be an easy-to-navigate, fast app to meet these demands.

“All of the Financial Review’s much-loved sections are featured, including Street Talk, Chanticleer and Rear Window. A selection of our latest magazines means in-depth, thought-provoking coverage is never far away.”

The iPhone app adds to the Financial Review’s award-winning iPad app, with both adopting a universal interface which allows users to download one app and use it on both iOS devices – iPhone and iPad.

Financial Review’s head of product management, Lena Zak, said: “The Financial Review iPhone app underlines Fairfax Media’s leadership in delivering new digital products and meeting the technology needs of today’s consumers. It builds on the Financial Review’s success with its iPad app, which won Best App or Mobile Site at the 2016 PANPA Awards and is popular with our subscribers.

“This innovation will introduce the Financial Review to a new audience, leverage the popularity of the iPhone in the Australian market, and deliver a faster, highly-engaging reading experience. “Being in the know is essential for our audience, and the new app will deliver breaking news through push notifications – ensuring a great value-add for subscribers and busy professionals on the go,” Zak said.

The Financial Review universal app offers new commercial opportunities for advertisers to engage with loyal subscribers throughout the day, regardless of their device.

Professor Roy Green, Dean of UTS Business School, which is launch partner for the app, said: “UTS Business School is excited to be a launch partner for the Financial Review iPhone app. UTS Business School is a pioneer of innovative business thinking and education, with technology a key component of our delivery and research platforms, so we share with Financial Review the focus on disseminating incisive business information to professionals in a format that meets their needs.”

The universal app is currently included with all Premium Digital subscriptions for $59 a month.
