Sam Frost, the woman who accepted a proposal from last year’s Bachelor, Blake Garvey, is set to be the first Bachelorette for Australia, Network Ten has announced.
The romance reality show where one bachelor or bachelorette chooses their love from a number of potentials is coming back this year seeing Frost have her pick of eligible bachelors.
Last year’s show culminated in a dramatic ending with Ten cancelling all interviews just before the last episode was aired. The final episode saw Garvey propose to Frost in South Africa, and her accepting.
But it was only a few days later it was revealed Garvey had ditched Frost and started up with one of the other contestants, earning him the title of ‘love rat’ in the media.
The network was given a massive boost when it aired exclusive interviews on The Project with Garvey and Frost on what really went down, with the show being the second most watched show that night in October last year, nabbing 1.192 million viewers.
There’s no shortage of coverage still on those involved, and no doubt Ten will be hoping for similar sort of attention from this season.
Network Ten chief programming officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “Australia was captivated by Sam in last year’s season of The Bachelor Australia and we are delighted to welcome her back for our very first The Bachelorette.
“It will be fascinating to watch as the tables are turned and the most eligible bachelors in Australia compete to win Sam’s heart. We cannot wait to bring Australians all the love, drama, fun and romance of The Bachelorette.”
Frost said: “I’ve decided to take a leap of faith and try my luck one more time.
“I want to find a man who will love me for everything I am, and everything I’m not, and someone who is genuine, down to earth and has great values.
“I’m really excited about this next stage of my life and believe the right man for me is just around the corner,” she said.
