Telstra Launches Wearable Tech Range In Store As They’re “Here To Stay”

Telstra is jumping on the wearable tech bandwagon, launching a range of the fancy doo-dads in stores.

A blog post from the telco’s director of devices, Andrew Volard, says there’s no doubt in his mind wearables are here to stay.

“With this in mind, and because of growing customer demand, we’ve decided to launch a standalone range of wearables that will be available in 370 Telstra stores across the country!” he wrote.

The range will feature the best in the business, designed to up the fitness, provide more info and encourage a healthier lifestyle.

But will they look nice? A recent survey found much of the wearable bits of tech out there, the kinds that are strapped to your wrist, used like glasses for example, looked rather unflattering, which was one reason people weren’t forking out the cash for them.

Apple has really pushed itself into the market with the launch of the Apple Watch, however the wrist tech hasn’t always been met with the happiest reviews.

Google also tried to have a hand in the wearable tech space with its Google Glasses, however, since they seemed to make the wearer look like a bit of a dickhead, they were shelved for the time being.

Telstra is also making it easier for Telstra customers, giving them the option to pay off the cost over 12 or 24 months if you have an existing Go Mobile Plan with Telstra.

It’s the second offering Telstra has announced in recently, with news on Wednesday seeing the telco team up with Apple’s music streaming service Apple Music for a promotional deal.
