Target Responds To Troll With Genius Facebook Post

Target US has posted a witty response to last week’s trolling party with a sneaky Facebook post about purchasing troll toys.

As reported in B&T last week, a Facebook user Mike Melgaard posed as Target’s customer service page “Ask ForHelp” and responded to 50 posts complaining about Target’s new genderless advertising. Here are a few of B&T‘s favourite responses:

Target originally gave a dry statement: “At Target, we are committed to providing outstanding guest service to our guests wherever we engage with them—in our stores, online, or on our social pages. Clearly this individual was not speaking on behalf of Target. Should guests ever have questions on whether a communication from Target is legitimate, we encourage them to reach out to guest relations at 1-800-440-0680.”

The actual Target account has posted a sneaky response to the trolling efforts. This weekend Target US’s Facebook account posted a photo advertising a couple of toy trolls. The caption read: “Remember when Trolls were the kings of the world? Woo hoo! They’re back and only at Target stores.”

Melgaard, the man behind the troll, responded in the comment sections—under his actual profile—writing, “Target. Seriously. You are AWESOME.” Target didn’t respond to Melgaard’s comment, they did however refer to Melgaard in other comments:

Troll so hard.
