Survey: The ABC (And Channel Seven) Named As One Of Australia’s Most Desirable Workplaces

The ABC is one of the most desirable places to work according to a new study of Aussie employers by recruitment firm Randstad.

The public broadcaster came in third on a list of Australia’s best places to work according to the study, with Qantas taking the number one spot (see the full list below).

Other media companies in the top 25 included Seven West Media which ranked 14 on the list and clearly hasn’t been tarnished by its ongoing Amber Harrison fiasco.

And despite recent redundancies, Foxtel claimed an admirable 21st position.

Although not exactly media companies (although arguably they’d like to be), professional services firms KPMG (11th) and PWC (13th) both figured on this year’s list.

The list is based on the 150 largest employers in Australia and based on a survey of 7795 job seekers. Work-life balance was named as the top consideration, followed by job security (hence the number of public servant agencies on the list), a pleasant work atmosphere and career progression.

“Unfortunately, employers aren’t always offering enough balance, which creates a gap between what employees are seeking and what employers are actually offering,” Randstad chief executive Frank Ribuot said in a statement. “Companies that are able to recognise and bridge the gap will be able to attract and retain the best talent.”
