As it’s done all season, The Block finale did the business once again for Nine last night delivering 1.865 million viewers when the winners – Hayden Vale and Sara Tumino – were announced. It averaged 1.674 million during the rest of last night’s episode.

As impressive as the numbers were, they were still down on 2017, when 2.461 million tuned in for the winner announcement. However, that could have more to do with people watching on catch-up than a diminishing interest in the show.

As was to be expected, Nine convincingly won Sunday with an impressive 42.3 per cent of the audience eyeballs. Seven had to settle for 24.4 per cent, while the ABC again claimed third spot with 15.3 per cent. Ten’s Sunday night woes continued, it could muster just 11.6 per cent, while SBS had 6.4 per cent.

The Block also had a halo effect for Nine’s 6pm news (936,000) and 60 Minutes (1.044 million) with both winning their time slots. While Modern Royal’s Tour Down Under iced Nine’s Sunday cake with 473,000.

Over at Seven, its best was its 6pm news (863,000), followed by Sunday Night (531,000), All Together Now (510,000) and Deadly Airspace: The MH17 Disaster (257,000).

For Ten, its best was Eyewitness News with 345,000. The Sunday Project got clobbered (322,000) as viewers tuned in to The Block. NCIS (308,000) and the Australian Moto GP (243,000) Ten’s other shows of note.

For the ABC, its evening ran thus: 7pm news (727,000), Kevin McCloud’s Top 10 (442,000) and Pine Gap (362,000).

For SBS, its best was Ancient Invisible Cities with 174,000.
