Sunday TV Wrap: F1 Pulls For 10, Despite Aussie Driver’s Opening Lap Clanger

Australian hope Daniel Riccardo may have crashed out in the opening 0.3 seconds of yesterday’s Australian Formula One, but it didn’t appear to seriously dent viewer numbers for broadcaster 10.

The race, that started at 4pm yesterday, pulled a respectable 649,000 at its peak according to OzTAM metro numbers. That was up on 2018’s race that pulled 612,000.

Check out Riccardo’s clanger below:

However, it did little to lift 10’s audience share yesterday, the network pulling just 12.2 per cent of the eyeballs and handing it a fourth place.

Nine – on the back of the formidable MAFS (1.48 million) – enjoyed a whopping 38 per cent share.

MKR managed half that (723,000) and gave Seven 25.3 per cent audience share.

The ABC had 18.5 per cent and SBS pulled a neat six.

The MAFS halo also allowed Nine’s 6pm news (1.03 million) to beat rival Seven (945,000).

In good news all-round for Nine, 60 Minutes (689,000) beat Seven’s Sunday Night (417,000).

Meanwhile, Sunday Night Takeaway continues to prove a headache for 10. It managed just 279,000 last night and its future looks clouded. The Sunday Project (343,000) and Hughesy We Have a Problem (294,000) the network’s other notables.

The ABC’s night ran thus: 7pm news (765,000), Vera (632,000), Restoration Australia (533,000) and The Indian Dream Hotel (144,000).

SBS’s best were SBS World News (141,000) and the fragrant The Five Billion Pound Super Sewer (133,000).
