Sunday Telly Wrap: Seven’s House Rules Claims Bragging Rights

Renovation shows appear back in fashion over home cooking and not terribly good singing programs, after Seven’s House Rules won the battle of the Sunday night reality shows.

House Rules pulled 1.19 million viewers last night according to OzTam viewer numbers. Nine’s The Voice wasn’t far away with 1.07 million, while it was a disappointing 737,000 for Ten’s MasterChef.

Seven won the night with 30 per cent of the audience share, while its news program (1.28 million) was the most watched show of the night. Nine was second with 29.7 per cent share, Ten hung on for third with 18.4 per cent, the ABC had 14.8 per cent and SBS seven per cent.

Nine’s 60 Minutes (841,000) won the battle of the Sunday night current affairs programs, beating rival Sunday Night with 645,000. However, both shows were considerably down on last week after both aired the Columbian cocaine dramas of Cassie Sainsbury.

Nine’s replay of Schapelle managed only 238,000 viewers, proving the media are far more interested in the convicted drug felon than the rest of Australia arguably are.

The ABC always has a consistently good Sunday night and its 7pm news program snared 670,000 viewers last night. Grantchester pulled 611,000, Doctor Who 420,000 and DCI Banks 388,000.

Over at SBS, Italy’s Invisible Cities was the best of the evening for the special broadcaster snaring a respectable 334,000.
