Nine’s Karl Stefanovic has found an unlikely ally in media veteran Ita Buttrose, who has stuck up for the larrikin brekkie TV host during a segment of Ten’s flagship morning show.

As reported by news.com.au, The Studio 10 panel used their ‘Daily Dilemma’ segment to discuss the much-publicised private life of Stefanovic, having recently been snapped enjoying the Easter break in Mexico with girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough and her family.

When show co-host Sarah Harris quizzed the panel on whether or not Stefanovic should show a little more consideration towards his ex in regards to his relationship with Yarbrough, Buttrose sprung to the defence of the TODAY host, calling for the media to “get off his back”.

“Why is everyone picking on poor, wretched Karl? He’s separated. Lots of people separate,” she said.

“I’m sure he hasn’t invited the papparazi along, and I’m sure he wishes they’d go away: They’re a pain in the arse.”

Harris added: “I’ve known Karl for a very long time and he’s always been very decent to me, but there are media analysts saying this will hurt and damage him.
