Australian founded eyewear e-retailer SmartBuyGlasses have won the ‘business excellence award for business innovation’ at the AustCham Westpac Australia-China business awards in Hong Kong.

The Australian ambassador to Beijing, Her Excellency Frances Adamson and chief executive CY Leung were present to honour the recipients.

The Awards are a means of celebrating Australian business achievements across Greater China with finalists and winners chosen after a lengthy voting process and are designed to acknowledge and recognise involvement, leadership and success in the region.

The SmartBuyGlasses Optical Group was recognised for its on-going growth and innovation in the online eyewear market. The Business Innovation Award shows a continuation of the company’s success, having taken home the Entrepreneurial Award at last year’s ceremony.

The company continues to innovate through its ‘3D Try-On’ technology, its retail partnerships in collaboration with opticians, offering customers eye tests, advice and help along with the vast range of products on offer, and the introduction of fashionable private label brands.

“We are honoured to be recognised by the Australian and Chinese government and business community for the 2nd year running as an innovator in our field, winning the Business Excellence Award for Business Innovation.” David Menning, ceo Motion Global.

The company was also a finalist in the category ‘Business Excellence Award for Sustainability and Social Impact’ as a reflection of the over $2,000,000 USD worth of eyeglasses that the company has donated to people and communities across the developing world. Working with carefully selected non-profit partners, eye care teams diagnose and provide quality prescription eyeglasses to some of the most in-need communities.
