SCA’s 2Day FM Facing Staff Exodus Over Em Rusciano, With Ash London Tipped As Her Replacement

SCA’s 2Day FM Facing Staff Exodus Over Em Rusciano, With Ash London Tipped As Her Replacement

The shit well and truly seems to have hit the fan at 2Day FM, with the station’s breakfast show facing a staff revolt against breakfast host Em Rusciano.

A number of staff who work on the 2Day FM brekkie show are calling it quits due to a poor work environment at the Southern Cross Austereo-owned station, with some declining to work alongside Rusciano, according to The Daily Telegraph.

It’s been reported that the show’s audio producer is now working on something else, while the publicist doesn’t want to work with Rusciano, and a producer has notified SCA that they are actively on the hunt for another job.

The Daily Telegraph has also reported that one of the show’s co-hosts, Ed Kavalee, didn’t speak with Rusciano between breaks during yesterday’s program.

Meanwhile, B&T has heard on the grapevine that Ash London has already been chosen to replace Rusciano.

An SCA spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by B&T.

This all comes after Rusciano’s expletive-laden rant on Will Anderson’s podcast, where she called Sydney media “c$#*s”, accused 2Day FM’s executives of “injecting two people” into “my show”, and admitted she was heading towards “some sort of implosion in the next six months”.

“I, all of a sudden, got two co-hosts that I’d never really met or spoken to, and then I’m expected to have this instant chemistry with,” Rusciano told Anderson.

“And it was just hectic. And it was The Em Rusciano Radio Show. It was my show, and all of a sudden Ed’s anchoring.”

It also comes after Rusciano’s former co-host, Harley Breen, addressed rumours of them having a rocky relationship, admitting he hasn’t kept in touch with his former co-host, and didn’t make a point of spending a lot of time talking to her off-air when they were working together.

Rusciano has been under a fair bit of scrutiny ever since she landed the gig last year with Breen, with the program’s ratings a constant talking point.

Despite the show growing its market share in the last two ratings surveys with Kavalee and Grant Denyer as co-hosts, it only manages 4.4 per cent market share compare to rivals KIIS 1065 (12.3 per cent), WSFM (8.1 per cent) and Nova 969 (6.9 per cent).

SCA chief executive Grant Blackley reiterated the network’s commitment to improving the performance of the station in the breakfast slot back in February.

The Daily Telegraph is currently running an online poll about asking readers what 2Day FM should do with its brekkie slot, and since B&T last checked earlier this morning, the results are pointing towards a change of hosts.
